Thomas Bouril Online Teaching Portfolio Introduction
Hello,
In this teaching portfolio you will find a variety of material that outlines who I am as a teacher in higher education. I strive to provide my students with a rich and rewarding academic experience that meets their expectations for the best that Syracuse University offers. I have done this in a variety of classroom environments, from instructor of record of courses designed and developed myself, to as a teaching assistant in several of the Syracuse University History Department’s survey courses. Like many graduate students trained during the pandemic, I have done this in a variety of mediums and taught courses not just in-person, but online and in hybrid formats. During this process I have to the best of my ability given students a quality education.
The material of my teaching portfolio can be found on the below pages (accessible at all times though the teaching portfolio dropdown menu). It includes: a teaching statement that outlines my teaching philosophy and approach; a CV that shows my academic experiences, including all of the courses I have taught and been a teaching assistant for; a selection of the syllabi that I have used in courses as instructor of record and in proposed courses; a description of my teaching responsibilities at Syracuse University; a page with a variety of materials that show how I approach instruction; and a page that explains and includes student evaluations of my teaching and how I have responded to student criticisms and suggestions.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to look at my teaching portfolio and learning about me as an educator.
Sincerely,
Thomas Bouril
